When designing assembly lines, the automation experts at AKE technologies focus primarily on intelligent concepts, reliable system suppliers and high-quality components.
Especially in the field of e-mobility and in the electrical sector, clinching experience with ensuring electrical conductivity is of great importance. The electrical connection must be reliable and have the lowest possible contact resistance to ensure a long service life.
With the frequently used, so-called eClinching, the advantages of the proven mechanical joining technology Clinching are combined with the required optimal conductivity. The connection impresses with very high holding forces, simple and effective quality monitoring during the process sequence and excellent electrical conductivity. The conductivity is produced with the help of metallic micro-contacts.
This process is used, for example, in assembly lines for battery systems, for busbars or fuse elements or also in so-called power distribution systems.
How electrically conductive connections are made
The optimum electrical connection results from the combination of shape/force and material closure. A central advantage of eClinching is the special design of the joining area, in which the interlocking of the metals to be joined creates a large number of electrically conductive micro-contacts. Thus, in addition to the positive and non-positive connection, a so-called substance-to-substance connection is also achieved and the advantages of electrical conductivity are combined with the high holding forces.
High holding forces promise constant transition resistances and maintain conductivity
The high holding forces themselves also ensure the good and, above all, constant conductivity of the connection. According to studies by our system supplier TOX®, Clinch and eClinch connections withstand mechanical loads and temperature changes more reliably in the long term than other connection technologies. The contact resistance remains constantly low because the relaxation processes - i.e. the relaxation of the connection - are also very low. As a result, the high conductivity is maintained and eClinching is therefore ideally suited for the high demands of energy transmission, especially in the field of e-mobility.
